Wearing Propaganda

September 3rd, 2011

A Japanese kimono depicting and glorifying war

with a full striking military scene.

In the years leading up to WW2, Japan was in deep-seated pro-militarism mode

with the third largest navy in the world.

The inner kimono revealed this hyped state to encourage the men and boys

and indoctrinate with adventurous depictions of military glory.

This rare upper kimono available at Hot Moon Collection

What a fantastic piece! I recently watched on the History channel, about the propaganda leaflets that the Americans dropped on Japan. they too are rare works of art……. But the kimono is amazing!
